Please note: Our sheepskin is hand-cut by skilled craftsmen using knives. As a result, it is normal to find knife marks on the back (leather side) of the hide – this is a natural characteristic of genuine sheepskin and is present on every piece. Dark marks on the leather side are also part of the sheepskin (protein fibres) and are not artificial blemishes.

In addition, the wool near the armpit and along the spine may be coarser and show some natural shedding (“sparse hair”); this is also completely normal for genuine sheepskin products.

Care Instructions – Please Follow According to Your Product Type

We offer two main product categories:

• Type 1 – Natural Sheepskin/Fur Rugs (shearling, wool-on-hide)
  These are made from genuine sheepskin with the wool still attached to the leather hide.
• Type 2 – Hand-Woven Wool Rugs
  These are crafted from Tan sheep wool yarn by hand-weaving or knotting.

Their care methods differ. Please refer to the appropriate section below.

Type 1 – Natural Sheepskin / Shearling Rugs

• Dust removal: Shake vigorously or pat gently to remove loose dust and dirt.
• Spot cleaning: For minor stains, use a cleaner specifically designed for fur or leather. Wipe the area with a slightly damp cloth, then dry immediately with a hair dryer set to cool or low heat.
• Important: Dry clean only. Do not machine wash, immerse in water, or use ordinary detergents.
• Brushing / grooming: Use a wide-tooth comb to gently brush the wool surface.
• While brushing, lightly mist the rug with water from a spray bottle – this helps the fibres become smooth, detangled, and fluffy.

Type 2 – Hand-Woven Wool Rugs

(Tan wool rugs, made from wool yarn)

• Dust removal: Vacuum regularly using a flat floor nozzle (do not use a rotating brush head). Shake or pat the rug outdoors from time to time to remove deep dust.
• Spot cleaning: Blot spills immediately – never rub. Clean with a cloth dampened in cold water; for stubborn spots, use a wool-safe cleaner. Let it sit briefly, then blot dry. Dry with cool air and keep out of direct sunlight.
• Flattened pile: Lay a hot, damp towel over the area, comb gently, and iron over the towel (never directly on the wool).
• Never do: Machine wash, soak in water, use bleach or strong alkaline cleaners, tumble dry, or expose to high heat or harsh sunlight.
• Deep cleaning: For heavy soiling, take it to a professional dry-cleaner.
• Extra care: Use pads under furniture legs, rotate the rug regularly to avoid indentations, and keep it in a dry, ventilated area.

This type of rug does not require the same dry-cleaning restrictions as shearling; however, avoid soaking or heavy washing unless specifically recommended by the manufacturer.
